On Oct.28, 2015, Handan International Land Port and Handan Customs were open to public officially. Handan, a State Historical and Cultural City boasting 3000 years of history, is now directly connected to the sea, which promotes its opening up and internationalization.
Jointly built by Hebei Port Group and Handan Municipal Government, Handan Land Port is located at the south of Hanshan District in Handan，a city 450km south of Beijing. It is planned that the total area will cover 988.4 acres and the total investment will reach RMB 20 billion. The port will be divided into three zones, the east, the west and the reserve zone. As the core logistic sector, the west zone covers an area of 411.8 acres, providing services related with storage, container yard, bulk cargo yard, transportation, distribution, e-commerce, conference and exhibition, inspection and quarantine, bonded area and port-surrounding processing. As the financial district, the east zone also covers an area of 411.8 acres, providing services related with commerce, finance, information and office work. The reserve zone, covering an area of 164.7 acres, serves as an extension area for logistic operation.
Handan International Land Port Co. Ltd., the sole developer of the logistic park of Handan International Land Port, started the construction in April, 2013. By far, the initial area of the core logistic zone is completed, including 49.4 acres of container and bulk cargo storage yard, a warehouse, an exhibition center and three office buildings, which become the new landmark in south Handan, with a total investment of RMB 1.05 billion. Since the trial operation started at the beginning of this year, the turnover has reached RMB 800 million, and the cargo throughput of storage yard and warehouse has reached 200,000 tons.
Now, Handan Land Port has officially opened to the public. It will expand its services related with spot market, import and export, port and port logistics, cross regional logistic parks, distribution and comprehensive services. What’s more, it will provide services in 17 sectors, such as bulk commodity trading, including steel, building materials and food, customs clearance, shipping agency, freight forwarder and information service. It is estimated that the revenue will reach RMB 2 billion and the cargo throughput will hit 500,000 tons this year. In 3 to 5 years, the follow-up projects will be finished and the railway will be connected to the logistic park directly. At that time, the cargo throughput will reach 10 million tons, annual turnover RMB 10 billion, profit tax 500 million and provide 2500 more jobs to society.
